Choose and arrange your nine favorite apps

Your favorites live in a simple 3 × 3 grid. Each slot’s number is its shortcut, so arranging them is choosing what ⌥1 to ⌥9 open.

Arrange your favorites

  1. Open the Favorites window.

Click the grid icon in the menu bar and choose Edit Favorites…, or open FavSlots again.

  2. Choose an app.

Click a slot. Type to search, pick from Open Now or All Applications, or choose Other… for apps elsewhere.

  3. Drag to rearrange.

Drag a card onto another slot to swap them, or drop an app from Finder onto a slot.

  4. Clear a slot.

Select it and press Delete, or choose Clear Slot from its menu.

Good to know

  • Slots swap, they never shift, so other shortcuts don’t change.
  • An app can be in one slot only; choosing it again moves it.
  • Apps that move or update are followed automatically.
  • Every change can be undone with ⌘Z.

Questions and answers

What if I uninstall an app that’s in a slot?

The slot keeps the app’s name and icon, dimmed, with Choose App, so you can pick a replacement.

Can I leave slots empty?

Yes. Empty slots have no shortcut, so their key combinations keep working in other apps.

Can I use more than nine apps?

FavSlots has exactly nine slots, one per number key, so every shortcut stays easy to remember.

Nine apps. Nine keys. Zero friction.

Your favorites. One key away.
